Source systems that keep a home phone and a cell phone in separate columns
produce rows where both columns hold the same number. Importing such a row
created the contact with its name, email address and first phone, then
silently dropped the street address, the tags and every custom field value.
The completion screen still counted the row as added.
What you may notice
- A phone number repeated across the Phone, Phone 2 and Phone 3 columns is
treated as one number. The first column’s value and phone type are kept and
everything else on the row imports as normal. - When two spellings of a number only match on their last ten digits, the
skipped cell is listed as a warning on the completion screen so you can
check it in your file. - A row whose contact cannot be saved at all now appears in the error list
with the reason. It is no longer reported as added with most of its data
missing.
What this doesn’t change
Different numbers in different columns still import as separate phones. An
existing contact matched by the import still gains only the numbers it does
not already have.
